H2 Speed: hydrogen for circuits
Presented two years ago, the H2 Speed racing car will be produced in 12 units.
While waiting to see the Green GT H2 racing in Le Mans circuit, the gentlemen drivers are already able enjoy the French-Swiss technology of Green GT through its H2 Speed. Keeping their promise to create a competition chassis, a hydrogen-based propulsion system and a design inspired ont the GT universe. As presented at the Geneva Motor Show, the concept has been refined with a sharper muzzle. The bodywork has also been reworked considering aerodynamics and tire size (provided by Michelin). The wheelbase has also been lengthened. The H2 Speed is 4.73 m long, 1.95 m wide and 1.11 m high.
The most relevant elements are in the inside. The car has a 250 kW fuel cell, as well as four electric motors (running at 13,000 rpm), a battery and a tank to store 8.6 kg of hydrogen (700 bar). The H2 Speed also has a 2.4 kWh energy recovery system and develops a power of 653 hp that can reach a top speed of 300 km / h. It refuels in only 3 minutes. Despite its weight of 1,420 kg, this racing car accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.4 s.
Contrasting with regular race cars, the H2 Speed only releases water vapor. As Green GT also wanted to offer a differentiating sound like in science fiction movies, the H2 Speed has been equipped with a compressor. The price of the car would be $ 2.5 million.
